Head of Academic Quality and Enhancement

Updated: 9 days ago
Job Type: FullTime

This is an exciting time to work in higher education in Egypt. With over 60 million young people under the age of 25, the development of a modern vibrant higher education sector has been recognised as being vital to support Egypt’s transformation agenda.

With its 15 year track record in delivering high-quality UK higher education in Egypt, the British University in Egypt (BUE) is perfectly placed to embrace this agenda and to produce qualified graduates to support the development of Egypt and the wider MENA region.

BUE has been offering a UK-style higher education experience and UK-validated degrees in Egypt since 2005. With over 11,000 students, BUE is the largest provider of British higher education in Egypt and one of the largest in the MENA region. A private Egyptian university, our mission is to be a leading research and teaching university in Egypt based on UK best practice. Our teaching is in English and our UK validating partners are London South Bank University and Queen Margaret University Edinburgh. We are based on a striking campus 35 kms east of Cairo and close to the airport and the new administrative capital.

THE ROLE

BUE is seeking someone with extensive experience of ensuring academic quality assurance and enhancement in a British university. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President (Teaching and Learning), you will plan and manage key aspects of the Annual Quality Assurance and Enhancement Cycle, carry out internal audits and provide feedback to programme teams and university committees. You will help develop and implement quality assurance and enhancement-related policies and procedures and will ensure that programme development and delivery is aligned with university regulations and the requirements of our regulatory and validating bodies. You will also provide training on quality procedures and monitor compliance against applicable standards and regulations.

Whilst we would value experience gained from already working in trans-national education, most importantly you will have a genuine desire to work in Egypt, well-honed cultural sensitivity and the ability to work-alongside both Egyptian and international colleagues. Your approach will be deeply informed by experience of UK HE, but with a sensitivity to the needs of an Egyptian private university. The ability to work collaboratively and flexibly and to deliver change within a complex international environment is a must.

In addition to a good Masters degree, and ideally a relevant PhD, we are looking for ideally 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a UK university and a thorough understanding of UK quality assurance and enhancement, including in-depth understanding of the requirements of the UK Quality Assurance Agency and the Office for Students.

More information about academic quality and enhancement at BUE can be found at https://www.bue.edu.eg/teaching-and-learning/
