Job Description:

The Department of International and Comparative Education of the Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the American University in Cairo invites applications for a tenure track assistant/associate professor position in Curriculum and Instruction- Educational Technology with potential emphases in subject area educational technology, pedagogy, assessment, teaching methodology, research and evaluation, and/or student development for AY 2021-2022. The department is eager to review the applications of individuals with a strong research agenda, background as an instructional designer and who can demonstrate commitment to excellent teaching, and an interest in living and working in Egypt. Prior experience in teaching or research in Egypt and the Middle East is an advantage and is desirable.

Responsibilities for this position include teaching graduate and undergraduate level coursework, supervising master's theses or alternatives, advising students, and participating in various educational reform efforts led by the GSE especially related to blended and online teaching, design of Massive Open Online Courses  (MOOCs), and serving on various committees and activities. A Comparative and International Education context is highly desirable.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a relevant completed, earned doctorate and should have a strong teaching and research record, and if possible, some experience in leadership positions in universities or schools. A successful candidate needs to demonstrate administration expertise with past or potential interest in contributing extensively to educational reform in Egypt, the Middle East in general, and other developing countries.
