Director, Private Sector Engagement and Partnerships, University Centers for Career Development, Grant Position

Reports to: Chief of Party

Purpose: The job holder will drive new business opportunities with strategic partners. Identify new opportunities for University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) and grow private sector participation through new relationships. Lead the design and implementation of all private sector engagement efforts and initiatives by exploring, implementing and advocating for opportunities to engage the private sector and co-create solutions. He/she will provide technical expertise to establish long-lasting alliances and private sector partnership to address youth unemployment and skill development. Also identify and establish relationships with potential businesses to form partnerships and maintain liaisons with partners that have committed support to the project and innovative win-win partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a holistic effort to build-out and modernize private sector relationship management (PSRM) systems, and practices, with the goal of providing a more consistent, more cohesive engagement experience
  • Direct the formulation of strategies and activities to engage the private sector to contribute to program implementation and sustainability of UCCDs (46 centers within 34 universities)
  • Manage the development, structuring and delivery of private sector partnerships and projects that draw on the comparative strengths and resources of public and private actors
  • Represent UCCD project and coordinate all activities related to building and management of private sector engagement activities
  • Prepare and integrate a measurable and time-bound work plan indicating concrete results and interventions for private sector engagement at all levels of project implementation
  • Monitor and document the outcomes of the private sector work plan, highlighting good practices, lessons learned and ways forward
  • Develop systems to help UCCD field staff in integrating private sector engagement across the program
  • Provide technical leadership for the design, formalization and management of innovative public-private partnerships and strategies in coordination with project leadership
  • Coordinate with other donor, local organizations, and government to ensure harmonization in development of public-private partnerships and activities
  • Engage the private sector and other private entities to promote a culture of private support to youth employment and participate in skills development and job creation activities
  • Work closely with the labor market information team in the design and implementation of employer round tables at partner universities (Two/year/university)
  • Support the chief of party, director chief of party and technical teams in identifying, reaching out to, and managing cooperation with stakeholders in the private sector, civil society, and national and local government
  • Ensure that all activities are in compliance with USAID and The American University in Cairo (AUC) applicable policies and regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Degree in business, economics, human resources, education, or equivalent
  • Master degree in a related field is an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar function or in business development
  • Proven ability of initiating and establishing public-private partnerships
  • Experience in working with stakeholders from various industries, private/public sectors and non-profit organizations especially from a business development, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and/or PSE dimension
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and innovative and creative approach to business development
  • Good understanding of and experience in working with local communities and government agencies at national, regional (governorate), and local levels
