Reports to: Senior Director, Accounts Receivables

Purpose: Under the supervision of the senior director, the job holder is responsible to safeguard the University’s financial interests related to earned tuition and fees revenue. Also, the University’s financial interest in that respect is safeguarded when tuition and fees are timely and accurately billed and collected for all registered students in accordance with published rates. The Banner Self Service system reflects at any given point in time accurate, verifiable, and reliable student balances and earned tuition and fees.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall operations of student financial services, billings and receivables
  • Assist the senior director, accounts receivables office in the financial management, fiscal policies review and changes; conduct special studies as required; ensure compliance with university regulations and standard accounting procedures
  • Manage the posting of academic and non-academic revenues
  • Maintain accurate and updated clearing accounts and SAP and Banner reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Produce periodic reports of student’s revenue, expenses, collections to The American University in Cairo’s (AUC) senior management
  • Recommend, participate in development of, and establish University policies and procedures; may serve on University planning and policy-making committees
  • Interact with internal and external auditors, participate in auditing projects, or provide information and access to accounting records as required
  • Manage the establishment and implementation of short and long range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; effect changes required for improvement
  • Develop and implement strategies to deal effectively with highly sensitive areas with parents, students, and University administrators
  • Train, supervise and proofread the output of unit staff
  • Coordinate schedules and registration procedures with concerned departments
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or other related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management of students accounts.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent work ethics, such as attention to details, self-motivation
  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP and Banner
