Reports to: Watson House’s Chef
Purpose: Under the supervision of Watson House’s chef, the job holder will be responsible for preparing all daily meals, private and business dinners.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Watson House chef in planning and providing nutritious meals to all residents daily, ensuring food purchased is fresh and of high quality
- Report and record in the appropriate manner any information considered to be important to the Watson House chef and/or the Watson House complex manager
- Inform the Watson House chef of any changes or problems that occur during his/her absence
- Maintain a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness and ensure that it is maintained throughout the kitchen to meet the required standards of practice
- Verify that all stock ordered is consistent with planned menus that reflect choice and preference
- Ensure that all machines are used correctly, cleaned and stored. Any faults or damage is to be reported immediately
- Maintain the correct storage and rotation of stocks
- Follow the cleaning schedules for the kitchen, equipment, and associated areas
- Responsible for ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards with the correct use
- Assist Watson House chef during events
- Able to take charge in the kitchen in the absence of the Watson House chef
- Clean the kitchen area, washing dishes and utensils
- Ensure that the Watson House chef has everything required to run the kitchen efficiently
- Assist in tasks related to events involving food preparation and presentation if needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirements:
- High school diploma is required
- A degree in culinary arts
- Courses include food preparation, baking, nutrition, sanitation, and food safety
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Skills:
- Ability to handle multiple priorities/projects at the same time
- Exhibit strong teamwork and positive professional attitude
- Must be punctual, reliable, and conscientious
