Job Description:

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the American University in Cairo invites applications for adjunct professor positions in multimedia journalism in the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. Experienced candidates are being sought to teach undergraduate courses in digital reporting and storytelling, data journalism and visualization.  Candidates must utilize current industry standard multimedia and social media production applications in a classroom and field setting.

Minimum academic achievement of MA in said or related discipline; Minimum 10 years work experience in said or related field; Teaching experience preferred in said or related discipline; English proficiency is a must.

Candidates will teach but not be restricted to:

JRMC 2201 Mass Media Writing. Study and practice of basic writing, editing, and reporting techniques used in the international print media; newsroom practices to develop listening, reading, writing and editing skills.

JRMC 2202 Multimedia Writing. Cross-media study and practice of writing and reporting for print, broadcast, Internet.

JRMC 2203 Mass Media Ethics and Responsibility. Critical analyses of media laws and professional philosophies, standards, and practices in journalism, public relations, advertising, and other fields of mass communication. Discussion of ethical and practical considerations and dilemmas in different professional and social contexts.

JRMC 4402 Reporting and Writing in Arabic. Advanced principles and practice in reporting and writing in and from Arabic
