Two Research Assistants in Water Treatment

We seek two early career researchers which are experimentally oriented and with interest in water treatment and water quality analysis. The candidates should have a good understanding of water treatment technologies and water chemistry and experience with analysis of water for classic water regulatory and quality parameters. 

The positions will support several projects on pilot treatment of salty waters from different industries mainly with biological treatment or ozonation.
Through the employment the candidates will become familiar with characterizing water treatment and experienced in using water analysis methods.
The positions will be a strong beginning on a career in water technology and likely lead to a Ph.D study ore directly into being a research or application engineer in a water technology company.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The research assistant will be responsible for participating in water treatment experiments and collect samples. The candidate will handle samples from experiments and be responsible for performing analysis together with technicians and report the results to project participants.
We expect the two candidates to be able to communicate with the industry partners in the project about results in the project.

  • Experience and academic knowledge on biological and physic-chemical processes in wastewater.
  • Overview of water chemistry and good computional skills.
  • Experience with a majority of the analytical methods: HPLC, Fluorescens, COD, BOD, Nitrification inhibition, Microtox, genotox assays.
  • Good knowledge of softwares for statistical analysis, including GraphPad-Prism or SigmaPlot
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal)
  • Good communication skills and experience with the academic writing style

As a formal qualification, you must have a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

The period of employment is 1-2 years from January 2022 or by agreement.
