Two postdocs in biophysics and plant cell biology

Updated: about 2 years ago
Deadline: 27 Feb 2022

Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Section of Plant Glycobiology Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering two Postdoc positions. The postdoc positions will be associated with the Plant Cellulose/Cell Biology research group (Prof. Staffan Persson) at the Glycobiology Section. The work aims to understand how certain proteins impact cell wall structures. The research will range from understanding protein regulation visavi function, visualization of protein activities in vivo and in vitro, analysing cell wall characteristcs, producing cell wall fragments, and elucidate how cell wall synthesis is coordinated with cytoskeletal activities.

You will work in a highly cross-disciplinary team that includes the full range of computational biology, microscopy, molecular biology and biochemistry (approx 20 people). The two positions cover biophysic and cell biology, respectively. For the biophysics position, it is expected that you have substantial hands-on experience, and a solid foundation, in advanced microscopy (e.g. TIRF, confocal microscopy, electron microscopy) with a supporting strong publication record.  For the cell biology position, it is expected that you have a strong background in cell & molecular biology of plants with a strong publication record. The successful candidates will be part of an exciting team to understand mechanisms that underpin how proteins partake in the formation of certain cell wall polymers and in cytoskeletal arrangements and functions. You will also be expected to engage in teaching, supervision of students and lab technicians, as well as actively apply for funding.
