The School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University invites applications for the position of assistant professor (tenure-track) or associate professor of human-computer interaction (HCI) and human-centred systems development based at the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies.

The tenure-track assistant professorship begins with a full-time, fixed-term, five-year position as an assistant professor with a view to permanent employment as a tenured associate professor. The associate professorship is full time and tenured.

The position begins on 1 January 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position
The Department of Digital Design and Information Studies is one of the strongest academic IT environments in Europe and attracts visiting scholars and PhD students from all over the world. We focus on information technology as a feature of people’s everyday lives and futures.

We are looking for an applicant who conducts research in HCI with both a strong theoretical foundation and a focus on human-centred systems development. Topics of particular interest are user interface systems and development, human-centred design, and HCI. The successful applicant will be expected to further expand and consolidate these fields in the department through research at the highest international level and by teaching within the field of HCI and human-centred systems development with an emphasis on programming.

In sum, we are looking for an innovative and dedicated applicant who will strengthen the research and teaching profiles of the department nationally and internationally as well as contributing to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, teaching and supervision, talent development and knowledge exchange.
