The Department of Operations Management at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) invites applications for a vacant Teaching Associate Professor position. The teaching associate professorship is a permanent position with teaching obligations.

We welcome applications from candidates with a proven teaching track record within the area of Managerial Economics and Organizational Economics.  Candidates who show interest in and knowledge about the departments other teaching and research areas will have an advantage.

The research areas of the Department covers and integrates five academic areas: Supply Chain Management (design and management of flows of goods, services, knowledge and information between firms); Management Accounting (design, use and effects of financial and non-financial measures in strategy development and implementation); Innovation Management (deployment of management tools and mechanisms to connect technology, organization and markets); Operations Management (relation between production, organization and strategy in manufacturing and service industries); Managerial Economics (decision modelling around pricing, costing, production planning and forecasting).

Our vision is to be bold in ideas and strong in practice! It is the ambition of the Department to be orientated towards questions that attempt to debate the boundaries of the areas. This allows cross-disciplinary exchange of research ideas and helps fostering of a strong intellectual environment. The Department understands management in relation to managerial tools and instruments that help to frame and make business issues visible and making them amenable to intervention, development, and control.

The Department wishes to develop both research and teaching in close connection with practice and therefore experience with practice welcomed. Competency and skill from empirical research by any method is also an advantage as is the ability to bridge to other areas of the Department.

Overall teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise teaching and supervision to undergraduate, graduate, masters, executive and PhD programmes within the areas of the department. Candidates with explicit and documented experience in teaching, as well as developing and organizing courses will have an advantage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching, examination and supervision mainly in existing CBS programs
  • Actively engaging in the development of the teaching portfolio of the department
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation 
  • Promoting the teaching capabilities of Copenhagen Business School, including blended learning approaches, and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School 
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks 
  • Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education

To fulfill the requirements of the position, the applicant chosen must be physically present on a regular basis and actively take part in developing, organizing and delivering the teaching activities of the Department as well as participate in shared personnel meetings on the department’s development and strategy.

In addition to teaching assignments and other academic development tasks, the position may include supervision and supervision of teaching assistant professors.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant academic field (at least a master’s degree and preferably a PhD degree).
  • Substantial teaching experience from universities or business schools within managerial economimcs, behavioral economics or performance management.
  • Documented teaching qualifications or other material for the evaluation of his/her pedagogical level.
  • Proficiency in Danish and English (spoken and written) hence the teaching must be conducted in Danish and English.
  • Publication of teaching material (teaching cases, contributions to textbooks etc.) is an advantage.

Terms of employment

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of 2020.

Recruitment procedure

The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants, when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee.

All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline. The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
