Student Assistant for CBS WIRE

Updated: about 1 year ago
Deadline: 17 Feb 2023

One day, you’re uploading text and photos, working to make an article look great and preparing the newsletter items. The next, you’re interviewing CBS students or staff about the next hot topic.

The university newspaper CBS WIRE is looking for a student who is ready to step up as our new editorial assistant from 11 April 2023 to 10 November 2023.

You’ll be an indispensable part of the editorial team and we’ll do our best to make sure your working hours are both fun, productive and rewarding.

Your tasks:

  • Getting our content online – we’re using Wordpress and Campaign Monitor
  • Social media posts: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
  • Film, photos, visuals, graphics
  • Administrative tasks
  • Reporting-related research
  • Writing your own articles – with plenty of feedback and supervision
  • And all the rest…

About you:
You are:

  • a student on a bachelor’s or master’s programme
  • fluent in English, in writing and speaking, as the newspaper is in English only (a working knowledge of Danish would sometimes be helpful but is not an absolute must)
  • full of ideas, have the determination to make them happen, and are good at seeing ways of improving what we do

Other items on our wish list: Familiar with CBS (i.e. insider knowledge as a current or former student would be an asset), professional experience with social media, newsletters, CMS, strong research skills.

Remember: You don’t have to possess every skill – we’ll teach you the rest.

We encourage all students interested in news reporting, research and education, universities and student life to apply.

About CBS WIRE:

We’re an independent, critical and constructive newspaper for the whole of the CBS university community: students, staff and stakeholders interested in CBS.

We run the cbswire.dk website and a weekly newsletter. Our team includes two full-time employees – an editor-in-chief and a journalist – plus several freelance contributors: journalist, photographer, proofreader and translator.

As part of our small editorial team, you will have plenty of opportunities to try out a wide range of tasks. We believe in having fun while working ambitiously and will welcome you, your knowledge, sense of humour and ideas on board.

Formalities:

You must be an active student at an institution of higher education to be employed as a student assistant.

Employment and remuneration are pursuant to collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant organization, with specific placement contingent on qualifications and experience.

The standard payment is between 130.19 and 139.33 DKK per hour plus 12.5% holiday payment (“feriepenge”). Depending on previous employment, you may also be entitled to receive pension, following the rules and regulations on this.

The employment period runs from 11 April 2023 to 10 November 2023. You will have four weeks of hollidays placed weeks 27-30, i.e. 3-30 July.

The average number of working hours is 12 hours per week. We’re flexible with planning your work days, when your exams and assignments need you more.

Your application:

Please apply by 17 February 2023 with a cover letter, a brief CV, and an up-to-date grade transcript as separate documents/attachments. Also, please include a text you are proud to have authored, in English.

Interviews are planned for 22 or 23 February 2023.
