Staff Scientist (Lab Coordinator) positions in Molecular Biology at BRIC

Our research
The aim of our group is to decipher how differentiation pathways of haematopoietic cells are influenced by different microenvironments. To achieve that we use state-of-the-art single-cell RNA-seq, multiome and spatial transcriptomics data generation combined with computational analysis to establish principles of blood lineage differentiation. We are working with human samples to reveal the dynamics and cellular programmes active during human blood development and to understand the influence of tumour microenvironment on pathological differentiation of immune cells.
We are a team of highly collaborative researchers performing exciting interdisciplinary science using the cutting-edge experimental and computational technologies.

Your job
You will have a PhD with significant experience in molecular and cell biology as well as planning and organizing research activities. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will assist the PI with supervision of scientific projects. You will ensure that lab procedures comply with regulatory requirements and high-quality standards and that experimental protocols are recorded in a timely manner and kept safe. You will identify new equipment needs, maintain inventory control of laboratory equipment and samples, and coordinate the purchasing of lab supplies. Together with the PI you will be involved in preparing grant proposals, recruitment of new lab members and financial management of the grants.
In the remaining time you will assist other lab members with performing laboratory tasks and conduct training of the team members when needed. You will stay current with latest developments in lab techniques and technologies. Importantly, you will be passionate about science and strive to support the lab and its members to achieve their mission in a collaborative manner.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated, outgoing, and enthusiastic lab manager with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in Life sciences or related
  • Extensive experience in molecular and cell biology techniques
  • Experience in supervision of PhD and master students
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task
  • Effective data organisation, document control, and technical bench skills
  • Strong problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English)

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience in working with patient-derived material and keeping accurate records
  • Experience in managing projects, forward planning, and strategic thinking.
  • Experience of contributing to funding applications and managing budgets

Place of employment

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term limited to a period of 3 years with the possibility of further extensions. The starting date is the the 1st of May 2023 or soon thereafter.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
