The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW, based at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen is looking for a Scientific Programme Manager (Chief Consultant) starting as soon as possible or upon agreement to manage and help direct the research portfolio with reNEW across sites at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), Australia, and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Netherlands.

The Center:

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW has its Hub at UCPH as well as nodes at UCPH, MCRI and LUMC. Researchers within reNEW address fundamental questions in stem cell and developmental biology and will pivot research findings to clinical outcomes and products for patients with incurable disorders such as congenital kidney and heart disorders, type 1 diabetes, Parkinsons’ disease.

Job description

The Scientific Programme Manager (SPM) will be responsible for the oversight of Center operations, including the monitoring and management of the reNEW Scientific Portfolio. Based in the reNEW Hub, UCPH, the SPM will oversee Centre-wide activities occurring at all three nodes and develop these opportunities in association with staff at each site. This role will additionally manage the required Governance activities of the consortium, including the Scientific Leadership and Governance committee meetings and the establishment and convening of Scientific Advisory and Development Advisory Committees as required. This position will assist the Scientific Leadership Committee in identifying bridging activities within and between nodes, establish and oversee the internal application processes for additional grant funding, liaise directly with the Scientific Advisory Committee and the Novo Nordisk Foundation and identify and coordinate the development of applications for additional external funding across all nodes. Reporting to the CEO, the SPM will assist in the coordination of the Collaboration and Exchange activities, including the organisation of Centre wide activities such as the Annual Scientific Meeting. The SPM will liaise with Research Management positions within all nodes ensuring appropriate coordination and oversight of activities across all nodes of the consortium. Additionally, the SPM will oversee the development of the annual report and other research reporting requirements.

The SPM will be performing other responsibilities assigned by and will have direct reference to the CEO of reNEW.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Honors/Masters/PhD qualification in biological sciences / biomedical sciences and/or business management

  • An appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation

  • Extensive experience in project management across multiple projects, from developing project plans and bringing a project to fruition within budget and within the agreed time frame

  • Proven high level experience in navigating and negotiating with multiple organisations and professional groups within a project management framework

  • Demonstrate advanced facilitation skills

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead and mentor employees in order to deliver project outcomes

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with experience in communicating to a wide range of stakeholders

  • Demonstrated independent judgement, initiative and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated capacity for autonomous thought and advanced communication skills

  • Experience in the production of high-level documentation, including collaborative agreements

  • Experience in the coordination of teams across multiple locations and organisations

The chief consultant must possess a very analytical mind set and be a strong communicator. As a person they should be proactive, thorough and process competent, a strategic thinker, display independent as well as group oriented, and possess very good cooperation skills. Excellent communication skills in English is a requirement.

Employment conditions

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations at the level of chief consultant with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Working hours will be 37 hours per week and the position is permanent.

The starting date is 1 April 2022 or as soon as possible hereafter
