Scientific Coordinator

Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

In connection with our DNRF and Villum Center of Excellence 'IDUN – Center for Intelligent Drug Delivery and Sensing Using Microcontainers and Nanomechanics', we are looking for a skilled and experienced scientific coordinator. You will play a crucial role in running the center and ensuring cohesiveness between center members.

At IDUN, we design, realize, and characterize micrometer-sized containers for the oral administration of drugs, with the vision of using them in, e.g., peptic ulcer care and insulin delivery. In addition, we have many activities in nanomechanical sensors and apply these in studies of cells and single molecules. The center is based on a close collaboration between DTU, SSI and the University of Copenhagen, and our activities cover areas such as microfabrication and in-vivo experiments.

The job
You will work closely with the center director, taking care of critical issues related to governance, project management, communication, and administration. As our scientific coordinator, you will need to thrive in an international, multidisciplinary, and highly ambitious team.

You will be part of the Drug Delivery and Sensing section at DTU Health Tech and will interact with all of the section's members and all members of the IDUN center. You will also collaborate closely with our administrative, human relations, and financial support team at DTU Health Tech. You must have a thorough understanding of the nature of research and scientific processes. In exchange, the position will give you extensive experience and knowledge within research coordination and organization.

Primary areas of responsibility

  • Coordinating and updating agreed research plans
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining visual tools for project management
  • Governance (scientific reporting, administration, controlling, and reporting of the Center finances, standard processes, and procedures)
  • Communication, internal and external, including websites and social media
  • Meeting facilitation and management
  • Coordination ongoing research projects
  • Overview of future funding possibilities and co-writer of applications
  • Administration (contact to the Danish National Research Foundation, meeting/seminar/travel arrangements, travel expense management, updating document management systems (DTU DOC, Orbit), as well as personnel lists)
  • Acting as a link between the section/center and supporting functions at DTU (HR, administration, finance, etc.)

Our expectations of you
We are looking for someone with a research background, ideally in a field related to IDUN. The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. degree in micro/nanotechnologies or pharmaceutical sciences and has experience in several or all of the aspects mentioned above.

You have excellent communication and people skills and are a true team player. You are excited by research and the generation of new knowledge and enjoy seeking structure in complex settings. You are now more interested in pursuing a coordinator job than a research position. You are good at handling administrative tasks and have good skills in written English. Furthermore, you have strong deadline management skills and a good grasp of relevant IT tools.

What we offer in return
We offer an exciting and challenging job in an international atmosphere focusing on research, teaching and innovation. Emphasis is placed on excellence and a high level of professionalism. The development of skills is an integral part of our organization. In turn, we offer a dynamic, supportive and social work environment with flexibility in the position. In technical and natural sciences, DTU is one of the leading research and education institutions in Europe. Within IDUN, our ambition is to be world-leading – come and join us in this exciting endeavor.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
