Research Coordinator for Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research,

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen

We are looking for a Research Coordinator to provide administrative support to the Gametic Epigenetics Consortium against Obesity (GECkO) starting on January 1, 2022 or after agreement. GECkO is primarily based at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) that was established in 2010 to conduct fundamental research on metabolism. CBMR is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The Center has around 250 employees from all over the world. Your job

The successful candidate will be an essential member of a multidisciplinary team of scientists from the University of Copenhagen, the University of Chicago and the University of Sydney, aiming to identify the mechanisms by which nutritional factors before conception influence the predisposition to obesity in the next generation offspring (GECkO).

The successful candidate will work closely with the head of the GECkO programme (Professor Romain Barrès) in many operational and administrative aspects supporting activities of the consortium. These include but are not limited to managing, monitoring and reporting budget operations to the University of Copenhagen and the funding agency ; booking travels and accommodation for visiting scientists; organising videoconferences and face-to-face meetings; communicating with Principal Investigators and research staff at all levels and liaise with media and non-scientific stakeholders for communication on activities of the consortium.

Profile

The ideal candidate should be meticulous, detail oriented, flexible, problem solver, service minded and have highly developed interpersonal communication skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic research coordinator with the following essential criteria:

  • Master degree in biology or related
  • Basic knowledge in cell biology, physiology and nutrition
  • Cross-disciplinary understanding of research and of finances, operations and human resources
  • Experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience in science communication, contact with media and the use of social media to communicate scientific results
  • Proficiency with IT, experience in web design and with graphical software such as Adobe Suite
  • Ability to thrive in an international, multicultural team setting of biochemists, bioinformaticians, and other laboratory staff
  • Ability to work independently and to use sound judgment to handle and prioritize a variety of tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to shifting priorities

Place of employment

The place of employment is at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, University of Copenhagen. You will refer to Head of Administration Helle Hald and be part of a dynamic administrative team of 14 people. We support the core tasks of the Center: research, education and research communication. Terms of salary and employment

The employment as Research Coordinator (AS-TAP) is a full time and fixed-term position for 4 years. Starting date is Jan 1, 2022 or after agreement. The successful candidate will be based in Copenhagen.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications.
