The Danish Offshore Technology Centre, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invite you to apply for research positions on investigations of mechanical behaviour of carbonate rock for CO2 storage. By joining our team, you will be working in an international environment and cooperate with some of the largest industrial players, TotalEnergies, Noreco and Nordsøfonden, as well as academic researchers. The project is part of DOTC’s aspiration to be a key player in the energy transition, and we are looking for an ambitious colleague who shares this vision.

The main objectives of the projects are to study: 1) coupled multi-physics (THM) processes for CO2 injection in wells and near wellbore region, and 2) understanding the geomechanics behaviour of chalk under CO2 storage conditions. Your contribution into these projects, will mainly consists of data analysis, laboratory experiments, CT image analyses, model development and simulations.

Qualifications
Ideally, you are an expert in geomechanics and Industrial experience and reservoir simulations experience are advantageous but not a requirement. Being open to multi-disciplinary research and team work is a must as you will work in close collaboration with the members of the research team. A close collaboration with our project partners and delivering results are essential for the success of the project.

We imagine that your background includes the following elements:

  • MSc/PhD degree in civil engineering, geomechanics, or other relevant areas;
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of non-isothermal flow and mechanics in porous media;
  • Interest in applied research with a focus on delivering results to partners.
  • Skills in scientific programming languages;
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment;
  • Good communication skills in English;
  • Thorough, focused and hardworking person;

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms is based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union and calculated on the basis of your seniority. For example, the gross monthly salary, including pension for a postdoctoral researcher amounts to approx. DKK 41,000.

Your employment  will be based on your educational level. If you hold a MSc you be employed as a Research Assistant and if you hold a PhD degree you will be employed as a postdoc.

The period of employment is 18 months with an expected starting date of 1st of July 2023. The weekly working hours are 37 hours.
