DTU invites applications for a Research Assistant position within the research project BoostEuroTeQ, developed by an alliance of Europe’s leading technical universities, including Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The overall focus of the project is to increase and amplify the abilities of European technical universities to interact with stakeholders in wider society to ensure desirable and socially robust pathways for societal transformation.
In line with this overarching goal, one foundational ambition of the EuroTech Universities is to introduce a paradigm shift in engineering education to strive for responsible value co-creation in technology. The alliance members share a conviction that we need to involve society as an active partner in technology development, including all relevant stakeholders alongside civil society and policy-makers. This has led to multiple collaborations between the partner universities and it is the driving force behind BoostEuroTeQ.
DTU, in particular, is leading the sub-project that investigates the role of co-creation in training future engineers. Along with Professor Maja Horst and Assistant Professor Monamie Bhadra Haines, you will be responsible for Work Package 6 of BoostEuroTeQ. You will be based in the Responsible Technology Group at DTU Management and take part in the group’s research activities. The group is a key player in DTU’s strategic aim to foster ‘technology for people’, i.e. to put human needs and aspirations at the centre of technological development. The Group is interdisciplinary and focused on the processes through which technologies are developed and implemented in a socially sustainable and responsible manner.
The responsibilities of the research assistant will be to:
- investigate the landscape of co-creation in engineering education at DTU, and assess the transformative effects of co-creation teaching practices and philosophies in training and research.
- evaluate the impact of co-creative pedagogy for innovation, and assist in creating a road-map of its scalability.
- you will also be involved in work packages 4 and 5 in close collaboration with colleagues in partner universities.
- use co-creation, not only as an object of inquiry, but also as a methodological premise to assist Prof Horst and Assistant Prof Haines in their research designing and testing interventions with students, teachers and university management.
- As a formal qualification, you must hold an Master’s degree in relevant fields
- Enjoy working with complex topics in an interdisciplinary environment
- Be motivated by both individual and team accomplishments
- Excellent communication skills
- Be fluent in Danish
- Possess a focus on process as well as outcome

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 2 years. The position is available from 1 December 2021 or as soon as possible hereafter.
