At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Research Assistant in Distributed Control and Optimization for Smart Microgrids with heterogeneous energy storage systems is open for appointment from October 1st or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 1 year. Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent. The position is offered in relation to the research group Microgrids and the research assistant will be positioned to the section for Electric Power Systems and Microgrids.


Job description

Research areas will be within distributed/optimization control of microgrids, and virtual energy storage systems, as well as hardware power in the loop validation using dspace/OPAL-RT. The position will be aligned to smart microgrids control and optimization, energy storage systems, power hardware in the loop validation.

Therefore, the candidate must have research experience with distributed event-triggered control/optimization of microgrids/distributed heterogeneous energy storage systems, and to have experience in hardware-in-the-loop through real-time digital simulators, specifically with dSPACE/OPAL-RT. Project experience will be considered as an asset. Moreover, the position requires that the candidate have a good publication record in international journals.

The required level of qualifications is at master level.

Appointment to Research Assistant may be for a period of up to three years. Reappointment may be made, but a Research Assistant can only be appointed to Research Assistant for a period of maximum three years. Agreement

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
