We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant to support our efforts in the study of circadian rhythms of metabolism to commence 01/10/2022 or after agreement.

Background
The vision of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms underlying metabolic health and disease and apply this knowledge to new prevention and treatment strategies. Established in 2010, we moved into new laboratories, offices, and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower in 2017. The Center has approximately 260 employees who work across a wide range of biomedical disciplines in a highly collaborative, international research environment. Our group and research
The Zierath Group investigates the interactions between intrinsic biorhythms and external perturbations such as exercise and nutrient provision to identify novel translational strategies for prevention and treatment of metabolic disease. You can read more about the Zierath Group here .

Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on basic and applied research questions related to circadian rhythms, metabolism and exercise. Your tasks will be to support the research endeavours within the group by performing wet-lab-based experiments to accelerate the delivery of our programme of research. For example, these tasks could encompass microscopy, qPCR experiments, immunoblotting, and genotyping of our transgenic animal lines.

Profile
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic research assistant with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • You have a Master degree in human biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, exercise physiology, or related science
  • You have an active interest in metabolic research
  • You have proven an ability to envision, plan and execute a research project
  • Excellent team-working skills
  • Good English skills, written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills

  • Experience and knowledge in microscopy, particularly confocal microscopy
  • Certified with FELASA laboratory animal science
  • Additional wet-lab skills (e.g. qPCR, immunoblotting etc) are desirable

Place of employment
The place of employment is at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment
The position is a fulltime and fixed-term position limited to a period of 1 year. The starting date is 01/10/2022.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated.
