Deadline: 17 Apr 2023

The Global Health Section at the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen is looking for a Project and Communication Manager starting from 1 July 2023.

About us
The Global Health Section has a strong focus on education and outreach, and is active in many capacity building projects with partners in low-and middle income countries. Research at the Section takes an interdisciplinary approach to global health, and covers a wide range of topics such as diabetes and double burden of disease, disaster and emergency health, environmental health, infectious and neglected tropical diseases, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and health care delivery in low-resource settings. The section employs 45 people in various positions: professors, assistant professors, external lecturers, administrative officers, PhDs, and student assistants.

Tasks
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-organized candidate who will focus on two types of activities. First, as project manager you will work closely with the project coordinator of the ADVANCE project on local project management tasks (about 40% of the position). ADVANCE is a newly-funded Horizon Europe project focused on mental health prevention and promotion with vulnerable populations in seven European countries, led by the University of Copenhagen. ADVANCE will focus on the evaluation and implementation of scalable mental health interventions across the life course (e.g., climate change and poverty-affected youth; migrants; older adults). As ADVANCE’s local project manager, you will be instrumental in organizing consortium meetings and assisting with travel arrangements, managing communication among consortium members, and assisting the project coordinator with administrative and financial management of the project.

Second, your tasks will include communication activities, both for the ADVANCE project (35% of the position) and for other global health projects (25% of the position).  As communications manager you will manage social media strategies and the ADVANCE website, develop newsletters, write news stories, and engage a variety of stakeholders across practice and policy, in collaboration with the School of Global Health’s Communications Manager.

We expect that you have:

  • A relevant master-level degree
  • Experiences with successful project management, such as meeting organisation, managing relationships, and communication with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial and administrative project management.
  • Excellent communication skills – you need to be fluent in English, be good with words, and comfortable writing both short catchy social media updates and longer in-depth journalistic texts.
  • Experience with managing social media, websites, and communication strategies.
  • A flair for the role as a driving force behind a project from idea to execution and evaluation.
  • If you have skills within podcasting and video editing and/or experiences with communicating and disseminating research projects it is very helpful but not a requirement.

Your profile and experience may not fit all the things we ask for, but the most important thing is that you are creative, proactive, and efficient, and willing to learn new things.

We offer:

  • An exciting, responsible, and challenging job with many international collaborators
  • Passionate colleagues working in a team spirit
  • A good social environment with an informal tone
  • A flexible workplace

The position is dependent on the signing of a grant agreement related to the ADVANCE project between the European Commission and the University of Copenhagen, which is currently being negotiated.

The position is limited to 5 years.

Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as an Academic Officer. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
