The Pioneer Centre for AI at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen is looking for a programmer to help develop and maintain medical image analysis tools with effect from 1 May 2023. The programmer position is a great opportunity to gain practical programming experience while contributing to software products for students and research members in the department.

About us

The Pioneer Centre for AI is a multi-university cooperation focusing on AI and is hosted by the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Computer Science. The Department of Computer Science offers a friendly international research and working environment of the highest excellence in 7 research sections within CS and 2 centers within AI, allowing people from diverse backgrounds to thrive. The department is part of the Faculty of Science (SCIENCE) at the University of Copenhagen, which is Denmark's largest science research and education institution with 12 departments. Tasks

We are looking for a candidate with a programming mindset and a strong interest in research projects within AI focused on brain MRI analysis. The candidate’s background can be Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Physics, Applied Mathematics, or any relevant areas with training or experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Medical Image Analysis.

Your tasks will include

  • Developing and maintaining medical image analysis tools
  • Debugging, reimplementing, and updating the existing tools
  • Writing progress reports and participating in regular meetings
  • Delivering the developed tools and instructions for the usage

We expect

  • Educational and/or professional qualifications relevant to the position
  • Relevant work experience (programming language, deep learning frameworks, operating systems, container platforms, 3D brain imaging modalities)
  • Preferably: Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Docker, Singularity, Linux, MRI
  • Strong motivation for programming and development
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

Terms of employment

The employment is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians, and IT officers in the state.

The employment will be as an it officer with a salary based on seniority. Negotiation for a salary supplement is possible. The working time is 8 hours per week, and the position is limited to two years.
