Professor positions at SDU Center for Energy Informatics

SDU Center for Energy Informatics invites applications for full professor positions in Energy Informatics. The starting date is the 1st of October 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Founded in 2013, the SDU Center for Energy Informatics is part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at the University of Southern Denmark. The center's mission is to advance methodologies and technologies in the field of Energy Informatics. As a relatively young research field, Energy Informatics aims to support the transition towards a sustainable energy system by addressing research questions on how to develop digital solutions that can increase energy efficiency and facilitate the integration of distributed renewable energy sources into the energy system.

Position description and responsibilities:

The successful candidates are expected to:

  • Contribute to the continuous development of the center's strategic research areas.
  • Take an active part in the center's strategic planning.
  • Strengthen the center's visibility nationally and internationally by taking a leading role in advancing the Energy Informatics community.
  • Proactively secure research grants from national and international funding agencies.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant professors, postdocs, and PhD students.
  • Take the lead on scientific publications and knowledge exchange with society at large.
  • Plan and execute research-based teaching in collaboration with colleagues.

 Qualifications and requirements:

The preferred candidates for the positions:

  • Have a high scientific production at an international level, with the capacity to contribute to further development of the subject areas in Energy Informatics.
  • Play a leading role in establishing and promoting the energy informatics field.
  • Take an active part in the energy informatics community, as, for example, a journal editor, editorial board member, conference organizer, program chair, or technical program committee member.
  • Are leading researchers within one or more of the center's strategic research areas.
  • Holds a multidisciplinary educational background, with a proven track record of transdisciplinary research within the energy informatics field.
  • Have developed systematic and holistic research methodologies for advancing research in the smart energy ecosystem domain.
  • Have research group management experience.
  • Have experience supervising and mentoring assistant professors, postdocs, PhD students, research assistants, and student workers.
  • Have experience with project management of publicly funded research projects involving industrial partners.
  • Can document the ability to obtain significant research funding and form industrial collaborations.
  • Have experience as a reviewer for international and national funding agencies.
  • Have a large international network within the energy informatics field.
  • Are active contributors to the annex activities of the International Energy Agency.

Conditions of employment
The candidates should have a PhD degree.

The successful applicants will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Please check links for more information on salary and taxation .
