Professor in Multiscale Modeling of Energy Technologies and Systems

The Department of Energy Conversion and Storage (DTU Energy) at Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as professor in the area of multiscale modeling of energy technologies and systems.

DTU Energy is focusing on the development materials, components, devices and systems for new and improved sustainable energy technologies for energy conversion and storage, such as electrolysis, P2X, fuel cells, batteries, thermal energy storage, energy harvesting and more. We are about 220 persons in the department, located centrally at DTU Lyngby Campus.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The professor’s tasks will be to develop the department’s competences in multiscale modeling of energy components, technologies and systems, and to deliver top-level research within this area. The professor must be a leading scientist in the use of multiscale modeling of energy units, bridging numerous length and time scales from components to systems. The professor must be interested in technology development, and the interplay between operation and optimization of the technologies, and the function of the underlying materials and components. The professor must be innovative, be able to implement ideas, be able to collaborate across disciplines, and must have demonstrated good research management. Dissemination of the research, scientifically and in the public domain, is an important responsibility. The professor must be engaged in teaching and supervision of PhD, MSc, and BSc students, and of young scientists.

The professor is expected to contribute significantly to DTU Energy’s vision of demonstrating cross-disciplinary world-leading research to enable a sustainable society through innovative technology development, and must take advantage of close collaboration with colleagues within the department as well as other DTU departments. An important task will be to attract external funding from public and private sources, and to deliver excellent results.

The professor must have demonstrated top-level and original scientific research in multiscale modeling, and in at least one of the Department’s main research areas, such as electrolysis, fuel cells, batteries, thermal energy storage and energy systems. The professor must demonstrate proven and successful management of research groups, and winning large research projects, including successful results and management. Successful collaboration with industry is also a prerequisite. Experience in teaching at Bachelor and Master level, and supervision of PhDs and postdocs should be listed.

You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicant’s qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
