At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Planning in Aalborg a part-time position (10%) as Professor in ECODESIGN is open for appointment from February 1 2022 or soon hereafter. At Department of Planning, we have about 200 employees situated at the Aalborg and Copenhagen campus. The department provides high-quality research and teaching in the field of planning, technology and society in order to create a more sustainable future. We are interdisciplinary in the technical, natural and social science disciplines and present a unique combination of social and technological understanding where digital and technological solutions merge with the needs of society. Our research creates the foundation for educating the future workforce, and as part of Aalborg University, the department rests on a socially engaging and problem-oriented approach. It is also at Department of Planning that the UNESCO Center for Problem-Based Learning is at home. That helps ensure, we create educations aimed at the job market and a society with increasing focus on technology, digitization, sustainability and partnerships for a sustainable transition.


Job description

The position requires research qualifications at Doctor level within the research field of ecodesign. The research will be in the field of Design for Sustainability, including topics such as ecodesign methodology and practice, product service systems, circular product and business development as well as local sustainable innovation development, taking a systems perspective into account. A interdisciplinary focus will be on aligning the three societal transition subfields of Design for Circular Products, Design for Sustainable Energy Products and Design for Digitization with each other.

Teaching will primarily be in Departments Master programmes such as Environmental Management and Sustainability Science, but also in other study programmes at the University.

Qualification requirements:
The successful applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

Agreement

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
