Postdoctoral Positions in Biophysics and Active Matter

Updated: about 1 month ago
Deadline: 01 Jul 2022

Niels Bohr Institute
Faculty of Science
University of Copenhagen

The Biocomplexity group and the Active Intelligent Matter (AIM) group at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, invite applications for postdoctoral fellowships in an interdisciplinary research at the interface between physics, biology, and mechanics.

Active matter comprises a wide range of living systems including cells, bacteria, and subcellular filaments, as well as artificial and synthetic materials that are continuously driven far from equilibrium by their constituent elements. Fundamental biological processes such as cell division, cell death, and the emergence of coordinated motion of cells are governed by the activation of biochemical signals by mechanical stresses and by the physics of active matter. This research program will use theoretical and computational modeling, along with in-house experiments to study fundamental problems in mechanobiology and active matter with potential applications in the life sciences. A number of projects include close collaborations with theorists and experimental biophysicists in US, UK, Japan, and Europe.

The positions is for two years with the possibility to extended it for one year and candidates with interest in theoretical and computational modeling are welcome.

Further information on the Department is linked at . Inquiries about the position can be made to Prof. Amin Doostmohammadi at .

The position is open from 01.09.2022or as soon as possible thereafter.
