Postdoctoral fellowship in theoretical condensed matter physics

Updated: about 2 years ago
Deadline: 01 Mar 2022

We seek outstanding candidates for the Postdoctoral fellowship to work on condensed matter theory at the Center for Quantum Devices, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The position is open from September 2022 or by arrangement and is for two years with the posiibility to extended for one more year.

The Project

The main objective of the project is to investigate emergent physics of in solid state hybrid systems, such as superconductor-semiconductor heterostructures and various qubits platforms, all in close collaboration with experimental colleagues. Depending on the interests and background of the successful candidates, the research could involve, for example, modeling of topological superconductors, protocols for observation of nonlocal quantum information storage in Majorana bound states, or next generation superconducting qubits using hybrid materials.

The project is sponsored through an ERC Synergy grant.

Inquiries about the position can be made to Professor Karsten Flensberg ([email protected]).

Description of the scientific environment
The position will be embedded in the Center for Quantum Devices  (QDev) at the Niels Bohr Institute. The research at the center is focused on quantum science aspects of solid states systems such superconductor-semiconductor hybrid devices, superconducting qubits, nanowires, and spin qubits. The center is active in both theory and experiments and most projects are carried out in collaborations with both experimental and theoretical researchers. The center enjoys connections to other quantum science activities in Copenhagen, for example in quantum optics and mathematical quantum information.

Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

The application, in English, must be submitted electronically by clicking APPLY NOW below.
