Postdoctoral Fellowship in Hydrogen/Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry to Study the Regulation of Lipoprotein Lipase

Updated: about 1 month ago
Deadline: 20 Oct 2023

Do you want to join one of the strongest biomedical mass spectrometry research environments in Europe? Here is an excellent opportunity to work on an exciting and challenging project in such an environment.

The Jørgensen group at the Protein Research Group /Section for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join a project on elucidating the mechanisms by which endogenous activators and inhibitors regulate lipoprotein lipase using hydrogen deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS). The postdoc position is fulltime, limited initially for three years, starting 1 January 2024 or soon thereafter.

This is a highly interdisciplinary project with nine investigators with expertise in different research fields working in six institutions in six countries. You will be part of an international and dynamic research team. You will be motivated to use advanced HDX-MS to investigate the regulation of lipoprotein lipase. You will manage an independent research project and assist in the supervision of undergraduate students.

The Jørgensen group is part of the Protein Research Group /Section for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry at BMB and offers a strong international research environment in proteomics, protein chemistry, biomolecular mass spectrometry, and computational proteomics.

Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with excellent communication skills.

For consideration, applicants must have:

  • A recent PhD degree in biochemistry, protein science/proteomics, analytical biochemistry or a similar field
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental protein biochemistry and mass spectrometry
  • Publications in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent English speaking, reading and writing skills

In addition, applicants with working experience with HDX-MS and LC-MS/MS will be preferred.

Our recent publications on lipoprotein lipase studied by HDX-MS include: Kumari et al. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 120, e2221888120 (2023). Leth-Espensen et al. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 118, e2026650118 (2021).
