The Frankel group is looking for a highly motivated Postdoc Fellow to join us at the Danish Cancer Society Research Center. Our group comprises a young, international, collaborative team that investigates fundamental biological mechanisms involved in the development of cancer. About the position

The successful candidate will join an exciting project focused on revealing and characterizing new transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulators of autophagy. The project combines the use of microscopy-based approaches with HTP sequencing, proteomics as well as genetic and biochemical assays to explore and understand how newly identified autophagy regulators can influence cancer development. Our work is interdisciplinary and involves a strong network of national and international collaborators. Within the group we value a cooperative and friendly atmosphere and the successful candidate will work in collaboration will other group members.


About you

We are looking for a highly driven, motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following qualifications:

  • A PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, human biology or similar
  • Broad experience at the bench with molecular and cellular biology techniques
  • Strong track record with at least 1 first-authorship in a good-quality scientific journal
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Experience with confocal/electron/high-throughput and other types of microscopy is an advantage
  • Bioinformatic skills/experience with handling RNA seq or proteomics datasets is an advantage
  • Experience with transcription factors is an advantage

The laboratories are equipped with modern interior and state-of-the-art technology, located in a pleasant and beautiful area near central Copenhagen. Our research facilities include a number of core facilities including microscopy, histology, bioinformatics and animal facilities. We have weekly seminars, invited speakers, postdoc and PhDs associations as well as strong administrative and technical support. We offer several benefits for the personnel, such as an excellent canteen, a daily selection of free fruit and sport activities. The everyday working language in the laboratory is English.

Start: December 1, 2021


Terms of salary and employment

We offer a contract for two years with the possibility for extension. The position is 37 hours per week with lunch break included. Salary will be provided according to the current agreements between the Danish Cancer Society and the relevant trade union. Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years. And the working hours are of course smoke-free.
