Postdoc/Research Assistant in Smart Living Environments at The Department of Public Health

We are looking for two highly motivated and dynamic researchers to commence on 1 October 2021 and ending by 31 December 2023.

You will work as part of an EU and Canadian project.

One position will be full time research assistant or Post Doc and will primarily be involved in implementation and evaluation in relation to Smart Living environments for frail or impaired elderly people. The work will require experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods and preferably an insight into concepts such as eHealth Literacy, Health Technology Assessment and Evaluation.

The other position will be a 10% post.doc. focusing on how to develop curricula and training programs for elder people and their caregivers to enable them to get the most benefits from the developed technologies and the ecosystem they belong to.

Your job
The work will be part of the SMILE project which has 14 partners spread across Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Greece and Canada. The expected outcome is a design of a Smart Living Ecosystem with a conversational agent and easy access to report and receive information about the elderly people’s own health. You are expected to travel to all sites and assist local resources in their field studies and to gather information across sites and perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis.

The theoretical platform will build on our Epital Care Model and our work with eHealth Literacy and how readiness for and enablement by health technology (READY). The work will consist of application of these theories in the development process. The work is also expected to disclose particular needs of segments of users with special challenges such as people with dementia in the Netherlands and Norway. Other conditions specifically addressed are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and ischemic heart failure. The research field is narrowed down to the projects agreed upon theories and limited by the tasks defined in the consortium contract. There is a possibility to be creative and innovative in finding new methods to report on the experiences from the introduction of the new technologies during the development.

Profile
As the focus of the project is technology and adoption, you may be a health informatician, a techno-anthropologist or hold an equivalent degree in this area. An experienced data manager may also be a relevant background. For the 10% post doc position we expect you to have a clinical background and a Ph.D. in relation to education and innovation of collaborative work in the healthcare sector.

We are looking for two highly motivated and enthusiastic researchers with the following competencies and experience:

Research assistant/post.doc

Essential experience and skills:

  • For the research assistant posistion, qualifications corresponding to a master’s degree prior to the starting date is needed. It is a condition that the Master’s degree is considered to be equivalent to a Danish Master’s degree
  • You should have experience with observation and interviews
  • Have insight into implementation and evaluation methods
  • You have an active interest in health informatics and smart living environments for older people
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent Danish and English skills written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience with statistical programs such as R, STATA or SPSS and preferable cluster analysis
  • Co-creative design processes.
  • Flexible and prepared to travel abroad for meetings
  • An insight into concepts such as eHealth Literacy, Health Technology Assessment and Evaluation

The 10% post doc should in addition:

  • Have experience with pedagogical theories and planning of educational programs.
  • Have experience with working with cross sectorial teams and transdisciplinary.

Terms of employment
As the positions is funded by an EU grant the applicant is required to report monthly activity and will not be required any teaching obligations.

The positions as postdoc/research assistant is a full time and fixed-term positions and are to commence on 1 October 2021 and will end on 31 December 2023.

Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Currently, the monthly salary for the full time postdoc position starts at 34,800 DKK/ approx. 4,670 Euro (April 2021-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Currently, the monthly salary for the full time research assistant position starts at 29,800 DKK/ approx. 4,000 Euro (April 2021-level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the “Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at the Universities” of December 11, 2019.
