Postdoc in Variant Cost Estimation and AI - DTU Construct

You will have a unique opportunity to work and do research in a strong collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark, Aarhus University and Industry as the project is conducted in four industrial case companies. The project will address the very business critical areas variant costing and IT infrastructure as the current knowledge of the financial implications of product development decisions needs improvement and automation to be used in industry.

The position will give you an exceptional opportunity to work both practically and theoretically in such a way that you will see concrete solutions being implemented in the case companies. The Postdoc project is part of the AIMO research project. As a part of this project the Postdoc will work in and manage a cross disciplinary team to ensure implementation of the variant costing models to IT systems and automation using deep learning techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Daily project leader for the AIMO project
  • Coordinate work in and across four case companies.
  • Contribute to establishing a framework for variant costing across the value chain and over the live cycle of products.
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative visual models of modular product and process architectures in IT systems.
  • Identify optimal financial and technical tradeoff criteria’s for making operational decisions within architectures.
  • Prepare the established methods and framework for integration with Deep learning and machine learning.

Qualifications

  • An engineering PhD within modularization or product architectures
  • Experience from different company functions sales, design, manufacturing, service, support
  • Experience in financial management
  • Knowledge of Graph Neural Networks
  • Deep understanding of the interplay between sales, design and manufacturing in relation to cost, lead time, efficiency and quality
  • Ability to work very systematically and visually
  • Knowledge of modularity both theoretical but also practical from Industrial application
  • Knowledge of commercially available IT systems such as CAD, PDM, ERP, CRM etc.
  • Ability to work cross disciplinary across e.g., manufacturing engineering, design, sales, finance and operation

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years.
