Postdoc in the field of Medium and High Entropy Alloys - DTU Construct

Updated: about 1 year ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

The Section for Materials and Surface Engineering at the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for a Postdoc position in the field of medium and high entropy alloys. If you are establishing your career as scientist and you are looking for the best possible foundation for fulfilling your ambitions, it is the right place for you.

You are expected to start your work soonest possible, and you will work on your project for 15 months.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The goal of the project is to optimize mechanical properties of medium and high entropy alloys via deformation, recrystallization and precipitation of second-phase particles. Deformation mechanisms and possible phase transformations in these alloys will also be analyzed using electron diffraction and HREM. The work will include casting, thermomechanical treatments, mechanical testing, sample preparation and microstructure characterization using electron microscopy techniques. You will be responsible for conducting these experiments and making correlations between measured microstructural parameters and mechanical behavior.

We are interested in applicants with a strong background in physical metallurgy and mechanical engineering, who have significant practical experience in transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, X-ray diffraction, electron backscatter diffraction and tensile testing of small specimens. Previous experience in the field of medium and high entropy alloys is a plus. Excellent communication skills in English (both writing and speaking) are essential.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
