You could be our new colleague if you are a talented researcher with a passion for research withinEnergy System and electricity markets.
The Dynamical Systems section at DTU compute is looking for a postdoc to join our team. As our new colleague you will be part of a diverse team, which is engaged in research in both deterministic and stochastic systems within a range of applications. The main themes are energy, smart cities, medicine, and biology.
Your focus of this position will be to contribute to ongoing research of energy flexibility, electricity market, sector coupling and energy system optimization. The research includes ongoing analysis of the structure of electricity markets and the role of ancillary services in the future electricity markets. Moreover, you will exploit methods to maximise both the use of renewable energy sources and unlock flexibility in the existing systems using dynamical models (grey box models, continuous dynamic systems models). Furthermore, you will look at developing novel algorithms to enable buildings to support voltage regulation and to improve the resilient of the local distribution network.
As a colleague in the Section for Dynamical Systems you will be part of a large, vibrant and welcoming environment which is internationally rooted. DTU is located in the greater Copenhagen area, which is acknowledged for its excellent standards of living, childcare and welfare system.
Responsibilities and tasks
You will work in a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for contributing actively into EbalancePlus (H2020) and Flexible Energy Denmark (FED) project, and developing algorithms to unlock energy flexibility and resilient control algorithms and electricity markets management platforms and contribute to the projects software developments.
- You will investigate and research the existing and future electricity markets with the focus on price/CO2 based solutions
- You will research new methods and technologies to integrate exiting energy tools and model for EbalancePlus and FED project
- You will engage in exploiting novel combinations and synergy effects with other methodologies researched and used at the section;
- In collaboration with your colleagues, you will engage in project management activities and funding applications related to your field of research;
- You will work in close collaboration with academic and industry partners, as well as with municipalities;
Qualifications
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
We expect you to have a strong power systems backgrounds with advanced programming skills. In the assessment of the right candidate, consideration will be given to
- Research experience in the Energy System and electricity markets
- Research vision and potential
- knowledge of the optimization
- Expertise with Matlab, GAMS, OpenDSS, Phython and version control Git.
- Experience of data analysis, model buildings and forecastings
- International project experience and the evidence of successfully delivering the research output is essential
- Internal and external collaboration
- Strong communication skills
