The Department of Food Science, Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a 2 years Post-Doc position starting on October 1st 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department's research areas share the mission to contribute with new solutions for society and industry to support sustainable food production, food security and safety as well as production of high-quality food promoting human health and wellbeing. The Department of Food Science is recognized for excellence in food research, education, and industrial collaboration. The Department is an international workplace with English as primary working language. The department has various pilot plant facilities and advanced analytical infrastructures.

The position is associated to the Innovation Fund Denmark project,  Innomission 3 – AgriFoodTure, REPLANTED - Detection and removal of undesirable compounds in plant-based dairy alternatives, coordinated by DTU, in collaboration with Chr. Hansen, Foss Analytical A/S, Thise Mejeri and KMC. The overall objective of this project is to develop processes and cultures to produce plant-based alternatives to fermented dairy products. The activities at the University of Copenhagen focus on processing solutions to enhance the techno-functionality and fermentability of aqueous protein concentrates.

We seek a candidate to perform excellent research in collaboration with industry. The successful candidate has previous experience in food processing and very good lab skills. The postdoc’s duties will include research within the above field including supervision of MSc students.

Qualifications are expected within the following areas:

  • PhD degree in Food Engineering or Food Technology
  • Expertise in protein extraction, extraction technologies or membrane filtration processes
  • Experience in understanding the effects of processing on product properties
  • Experience in performing experiments across scales (lab, pilot, full-scale)
  • Interest and experience in supervising MSc and BSc

Moreover, good interpersonal and communicative skills required for teamwork across disciplines and with industry partners are necessary, ability to work independently and deliver on project activities within deadlines.
