At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in Post Doc in MV electrolyzer power converters is open for appointment from 1 July 2023 or soon thereafter. The position is available for a period of 2 years.


Job description

Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.

The position is offered in relation to the research "POWER ELECTRONICS PACKAGING,  MATERIALS AND EMERGING APPLICATIONS " and the Postdoc will be positioned to the section for Power Electronics System Integration and Materials “PE-SIM”.

Research areas will be within low- and medium voltage wide band gap (WBG) power electronic converters.

The applicants must hold, or soon be getting a PhD degree in electrical engineering. Experience is required on medium voltage power electronics converters based on 10kV wide band gap transistor technology.

The candidate should know the theory of wide bandgap power devices and have experience in the power converter stack 3 phase hardware development and build up using 10kV SiC power modules. Experience is required with double pulse test of 10kV SiC power modules, real-time control of SiC based power converters for medium voltage applications. The candidate should be familiar with grid integration strategies including control architectures that are used in connection with renewable energy sources.

The work is carried out with external partners, so collaboration skills are required. Adequate English skills to conduct work tasks are required.

The applicant should have written scientific articles published at journals/transactions and conferences.

Required working experiences with MV converters for voltages above 2000V and currents above 10A using WBG power semiconductor devices.

Qualification requirements: 

Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
