MSC is looking for a new Postdoc to join the BEACON - Behavioural Insights for a Circular Society project, which explores and tests behavioural changes towards sustainable lifestyles to support the building of a Circular Society.

MSC brings together scholars from a range of research areas within management, communication and the broader social sciences and humanities, studying organizations in global environments and the interaction and interdependencies of business, society and government. They share a common interest in studying organizations in global environments and the relations of organizations to the wider society. MSC is a significant supplier of research-based teaching to a broad portfolio of programs, which includes undergraduate, graduate and doctoral teaching and supervision as well as executive education in the fields of:

  • Responsible management, leadership and governance
  • Corporate responsibility and sustainability
  • Business and development (with an emphasis on the emerging/growth economies context)
  • Organisational communication (corporate communication, strategic communication, leadership communication, marketing communication, international business communication)

In this position, our new colleague will build on our past and ongoing experimental work on behavioural insights to advance knowledge on the building of Circular Societies. This includes but is not limited to (1) defining and drawing the contours of a resilient circular society in general with a focus on urban food systems in particular; (2) fostering understanding and creating a common vision of the circular society and collaborate to promote it, across academic disciplines as well as practice partners from different societal sec-tors; and (3) co-creating and developing, together with stakeholders and practice partners, innovative prototype solutions, based on a human-centered design approach that includes users’ needs and goals, mapping their experiences and subjective risks.

Examples of research areas that the Postdoc might cover:

  • Behavioural Science
  • Sustainability Science – especially Circular Economies, Innovation and Circular Societies
  • Quantitative and/or qualitative research approaches such as human-centered design workshops, living labs, focus groups, in-depth interviews, consensus mini-conference, and other relevant experimental methods
  • Systems theory, Actor-Network theory, Social Practice theory

The Postdoc is expected to engage with several project related tasks, such as literature synthesis, and collaborate with practice partners and the scientific community. The position also involves minimal admin tasks related to the research activities, such as planning and organizing mini conferences, board meetings, and workshops.

The Postdoc is a non-tenured position up to a 2 year period with research obligation. To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the research activities of the Department.

Qualifications

  • The applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential and research relevant to the job description.
  • Previous experience in research project management and ability to work with diverse sets of stakeholders are welcome. The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
