Postdoc for Electrochemical Gas Cleaning Group – DTU Chemical Engineering

We are looking for 1-2 skilled postdoc(s) for our electrochemical gas cleaning group. CO2 capture and Power-to-X will play important roles in the green energy transition. 

As postdoc at DTU Chemical Engineering you will support the development of these technologies. Specifically, we are working on projects that uses electrical power to capture CO2 and cleaning gasses for impurities. We study and develops the next generation gas cleaning, and work together with national and international project partners.

We are currently developing a world-leading research group in gas cleaning technologies. The scientific field of gas cleaning, especially CO2 capture, is growing, and we expect this to continue for many years to come. Our fields of research include fundamental measurements of chemical properties, laboratory experiments, thermodynamic modelling of electrolytes and pilot plant operation. 

Responsibilities and qualifications
As postdoc, you will support tasks in several different projects. You will work with a team of PhD-students, laboratory technicians, associate professors and project managers at DTU. Furthermore, the projects have significant industrial participation and you will often participate in meetings with industrial project partners. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervision of MSc students
  • Support of PhD students
  • Detailed surface analysis
  • Analysis of membrane performance
  • Construct and operate test rigs for testing electrochemical cell
  • Write scientific publications 
  • Apply for funding both nationally and internationally

We expect you to have: 

  • Good understanding of the Danish/European visions and strategies within the green transition
  • Exceptional communication skills, to be able to communicate the vision of the projects to both researchers, CEOs, the public and funding agencies.
  • The possibility to self-activate, working independently 
  • An out-spoken character
  • Strong experimental background, preferably within surface characterization 
  • An open and direct communication, asking straight questions, giving straight answers
  • The ability to work both alone and in teams

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 2 years. Start date according to mutual agreement.
