At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Planning in Copenhagen, a position as part-time lecturer in urban organization, planning and processes is open from September 1 2022 or soon hereafter. At Department of Planning, we have about 200 employees situated at the Aalborg and Copenhagen campus. The department provides high-quality research and teaching in the field of planning, technology and society in order to create a more sustainable future. We are interdisciplinary in the technical, natural and social science disciplines and present a unique combination of social and technological understanding where digital and technological solutions merge with the needs of society. Our research creates the foundation for educating the future workforce, and as part of Aalborg University, the department rests on a socially engaging and problem-oriented approach.


Job description

To contribute with lectures in courses and supervision of projects in the MSc Sustainable Design Engineering we seek an external lecturer that:

  • Has a PhD
  • Has experience analyzing and creating knowledge on sustainable business models
  • Has published scientifically on business models, sustainability, Circular Economy and Product-Service Systems
  • Has international experience in the area of design and sustainability
  • Has experience defining and implementing Circular Economy strategies for industry in Denmark and Nordic Countries
  • Has experience and training for supervision of Bachelor and Master students using project based learning methodology

Applicants must hold academic qualifications at master’s degree level.

Employment as a part-time lecturer requires either relevant practical experience at a high level which has not been gained through academic employment with a university, or employment in an academic principal position with another university.

Teaching qualifications are included in the assessment of applicants for a part-time lectureship.

A part-time lecturer who is employed on the merits of his or her relevant practical experience must possess in-depth, up-to-date knowledge of the possible applications of the subject/academic discipline. This knowledge is/has been acquired through employment within the subject/academic discipline.


The application must include CV with a list of publications, diplomas and teaching portfolio or equivalent documentation of teaching experience and qualifications.

Shortlisting will be applied. After the review of any objections regarding the assessment committee, the head of department, with assistance from the chair of the assessment committee, selects the candidates to be assessed. All applicants will be informed as to whether they will advance to assessment or not.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science’s Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities in force at the time in question. Employment and salary are in accordance with the agreement in force at the time in question between The Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) concerning part-time Lecturers.
