Post doc with a special focus on Professional Development of Faculty in Higher Education in the Digital Age

The RiBL cluster (Research in blended learning) welcomes expressions of interest from postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record of research and publication to apply jointly with supervisors from the Department of Marketing/Department of Management, Society and Communication at CBS to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme. Selected candidates will receive dedicated support from senior researchers, as well as CBS’ Research Support Office to develop their proposal and application for submission to the European Commission by September 15th, 2021. The selected candidate may benefit from travel funding provided by CBS to visit the host professor (if possible) for 1-2 days in July/August 2021 to discuss and plan the full proposal for submission to the European Commission. If travel is not possible, online meetings will be arranged.

The hosts at CBS are two members of the RiBL research cluster: Professor MSO Thyra Uth Thomsen, Department of Marketing & co-host Professor MSO and Associate Dean of Technology-enabled learning Annemette Kjærgaard, Department of Management, Society and Communication

Research themes
The digitalization of education challenges established teaching practices in higher education and fosters new requirements for the professional development of faculty. We invite research proposals concerning professional development of faculty in higher education in the digital age. Expressions of Interest that are related to one or more of the following research themes are welcome:

1. How does teaching and learning in the digital age affect current roles/identities of teachers, students and staff, and what are the implications for faculty development?
2. Which teaching competences do higher education faculty need to develop in the digital age?
3. How does teaching and learning in the digital age affect the relationship between teachers/students and students/students, and what are the implications for faculty development?

Although not comprehensive, these questions illustrate that faculty development programs in the digital age need to change more fundamentally than offering courses on teaching technologies. We hope to be working with you on providing some solutions to this challenge and encourage interested researchers to apply.

Candidates with an education science background including but not limited to a psychological or social science degree and a strong interest in technology-supported learning are welcome to apply.

The position will be linked to the RiBL research cluster that explores new technology-supported teaching and learning opportunities in business and management education, including the changing role of teachers and the future of higher education institutions in the digital age.

How to express your interest
Expressions of interest should include:
1. Your CV including a full list of your publications, research grants and projects
2. A max 2-3 page Research Proposal Summary addressing one or more of the above themes
3. A max 1-2 page motivation letter identifying synergies with the key research areas listed above

Please submit your EoI by sending it to MSCA2021@cbs.dk as one single PDF file attachment named ‘MSCA - Thomsen - Applicant’s initials’ by May 16th, 2021.

Expressions of interest will be selected based on the quality of the research idea and the candidate’s track record. In early-June 2021, selected candidates will be contacted by the CBS team to discuss next steps.
To allow sufficient time for institutional approvals, a draft of the full proposal is expected to be ready for review by the CBS host by August 10th, 2021.
