The Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Bioengineering) is looking for an independent and enthusiastic laboratory technician with a flair for coordination and research problem-solving for employment in the Section for Protein Science and Biotherapeutics (PSBT). 

Primary responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will be activities related to laboratory maintenance in both an executive and coordinating role. This includes maintaining laboratories, procurement, monitoring work environment procedures and regulations, establishing maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment, training students and new users, as well as experimental work with research projects related to cell signaling in complex environments and omics technologies. 

You will be part of the section's technician team (consisting of ten technicians and trainees and a team leader). As part of the technician team, you support the section's diverse research and teaching activities, which span a range of topics and methods within biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. Specifically, you will support the international team of Dr Chiara Francavilla funded by a Novo Nordisk Foundation Young Investigator Award. 

Your background and qualifications
We expect that you are an experienced laboratory technician and see yourself as a generalist, who has updated knowledge of mammalian cell signaling and experience with:

  • cell biological methods, specifically mammalian cell culture, including three dimensional cell culture and/or primary cell culture, lentivirus production for stable cell lines, or related methods and techniques
  • biochemical methods, including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, protein production, or related methods and techniques
  • molecular biological methods, in particular molecular cloning, PCR-based methods, CRISPR-CAS9 methods, or related methods and techniques
  • supervision and instruction of students or trainees
  • experience with laboratory or infrastructure management

Importantly, you have a can-do attitude and are a problem-solver who loves a challenge and thrives with coordination of multiple tasks. You are self-led and self-motivated, you can handle tasks independently, you are proficient in time management, you keep detailed notebooks, and you like engaging with a range of people and professions to produce the best possible teaching and research.

At DTU Bioengineering you will have many international colleagues. We therefore also expect that you are confident communicating in English, both verbally and in writing.

Candidates with a degree at MSc level or above will not be considered.

Salary and terms of employment
Salary and employment conditions is based on the OAO-S joint agreement and association agreement for office workers, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK/Stat) signed with the Danish Ministry of Finance.

The position is full time, but a part-time employment can be negotiated. 

Start date: 1st of September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
