The Department of Digitalization invites applications for a vacant position as an instructor in for example the following courses for a maximum of three years.

MSc Data Science:

Foundations of Data Science
Visual Analytics
Business Data Processing and Business Intelligence 

Responsibilities 

The role of the Instructor is a part-time position, where the instructor will teach & conduct exercises both independently and together with the professor/external lecturer. Teaching duties are of elementary nature to supplement and support learning for students.
Further, the instructor is expected to prepare the exercise sessions, supervise student groups, and other activities that help ensure a good learning environment for the students in the course.

Digital Technology and Data-Driven Business

The instructor will prepare and run exercise sessions and supervise student groups. The exercises include the topics Python, basic statistics, and data analytics and visualization. During the course, the instructors will prepare exercises, supervise student groups during exercises, and give feedback to students on their performance. In addition, instructors should also assist in managing the pre-qualifying exams.

Big Data Management 

Two instructors are sought to help prepare and run exercise sessions for the Big Data Management course with Python and Jupyter Notebooks. The content of the sessions is predetermined by the course coordinator, and the main responsibility of the instrcutors will be to review the exercise material ahead of the session and troubleshoot student issues during the session. 

To get a sense of the level of the exercise sessions, please refer to the material in “Introduction to machine learning with Python: a guide for data scientists” (Müller & Guido, 2016). 

The ideal TA will possess:

  • High proficiency in programming with Python
  • Understanding of basic statistics and machine learning techniques (e.g., classification, clustering, regressions, etc.)
  • Experience implementing machine learning techniques with relevant Python libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas, numpy)
  • Ability to communicate concepts from programming and machine learning to students

Foundations of Data Science, Visual Analytics and Business Data Processing, and Business Intelligence

The instructor will prepare and run exercise sessions and supervise student groups. The exercises include the topics Python, basic statistics, and data analytics and visualization. During the course, the instructors will prepare exercises, supervise student groups during exercises, and give feedback to students on their performance.

Qualifications 

The applicant must either hold a Bachelor degree, have passed the first two years of a relevant Bachelor programme or have corresponding qualifications . Emphasis is placed on the applicant’s teaching potential. 

Appointment and salary 

Appointment and salary is based on the Ministry of Finance agreement regarding student teaching assistents. Salary will only be paid for lessons taught, based on hours reported in LOENUA. At the moment the hourly rate is DKK 229,03 and pension at 1,78 pct..
