Updated: over 1 year ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 01 Nov 2022

The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Southern Denmark (SDU ) is seeking a visionary leader to establish and build a new section in Odense focused on digital and high frequency electronics (DHFE).

It is our ambition that the new section will be an integral part of and complement to our world leading activities in robotics . We expect that the research of the section will ensure competences in digital and high frequency electronics, embedded systems, control, and communication, and that it might also embrace mm-waves, sensing, and other topics in digital and high frequency electronics, that may or may not be relevant to robotics.

In due time, the section will provide the backbone of our educational programmes in electrical engineering in Odense, including our Bachelor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.

In addition to world leading research and excellent education, it is also our ambition that the section will have extensive collaboration with industry, local as well as global. The local robotic industries in the immediate surrounding of SDU in Odense now count 140 companies. Many were spun out from SDU over the past two decades, most interact intensively with SDU in research and development and are in large measure dependent on competent graduates from SDU to meet the needs of rapid growth exceeding 20% per annum.

It is anticipated that the section will comprise at least 20 academics, including PhD students, within a few years, and grow to match the attracted research funding, industrial collaboration, and educational activities.

The SDU campus in Odense comprises five faculties and soon also a large university hospital creating a great concentration of academics and students facilitating interdisciplinary research and rich student life. The city of Odense is culturally rich and highly liveable with a green banked meandering river cutting through the centre and attractive residential areas.
