Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW is seeking a special consultant as Head of Communication and Engagement

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW, based at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen is looking for a special consultant starting as soon as possible or upon agreement as Head of Communication and Engagement liaising with key personnel across sites at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), Australia, and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Netherlands.

The Center:

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW has its Hub at UCPH as well as nodes at UCPH, MCRI and LUMC. Researchers within reNEW addresses fundamental questions in stem cell and developmental biology and will pivot research findings to clinical outcomes and products for patients with incurable disorders such as congenital kidney disorders, type 1 diabetes, heart defects, Parkinsons’ disease.

Job description

The Head of Communication and Engagement (HoCE) will be responsible for implementing the Center wide strategy of both external communication and engagements as well as internal communication (intranode) and research dissemination across the consortium. This HoCE will liaise with the engagement and communication officers at each node to develop an annual program of communication activities that incorporate both internal and external activities locally. This role will ensure a coordinated programme of activities visible across the entire Center, including an annual program of communication activities that incorporate both internal and external activities locally, the coordinated development of content for the reNEW website, which will be maintained and supported by the HoCE. The HoCE will maintain a very close line of communication with a research Theme of reNEW focusing on social sciences and public awareness towards stem cell medicine for the development and alignment of innovative engagement activities. This will include active engagement with relevant venues, including e.g. the Medical Museion, where engagement events can be staged. It will also include the oversight of international engagement opportunities.

The special consultant will be performing other responsibilities assigned by and will have direct reference to the CEO of reNEW.

Qualifications

  • Background in health, medical research or academia
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role with experience working at an executive level
  • Evidence of experience in externally facing public engagement opportunities from conception through planning, execution and evaluation
  • Evidence of experience in modern electronic communication platforms and modalities and a capacity to liaise with relevant IT and consulting staff for their deployment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to prepare high quality documentation and the capacity and confidence to deal positively with a range of stakeholders internally and externally, including staff, senior academics, clinicians, patient advocacy groups, media representatives, university administrative staff and members of government organisations as required
  • Ability to think strategically and independently in order to forward plan and monitor future priorities
  • Excellent professional and organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate workflow and prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines and effectively balance competing workloads during peak periods whilst handling sensitive information in a confident and appropriate manner.
  • A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including design platforms.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail
  • Ability to handle and uphold confidentiality with maturity and common sense

The special consultant must possess a very analytical mind set and be a strong external and internal communicator and as a person be proactive, independent as well as group oriented, and possess very good cooperation skills. Excellent communication skills in English is a must.

Employment conditions

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) at the level of special consultant with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Working hours will be 37 hours per week and the position is permanent.

The starting date is 1 April 2022 or as soon as possible hereafter
