Full Professorship in Bioimaging and Image Analysis

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for a Full Professorship in Bioimaging and Image analysis. We are looking for a candidate with a strong scientific track record, and intellectual curiosity to become part of the Bioimaging section. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to develop an independent research group in a highly supportive environment equipped with state-of-the-art research infrastructure. Applicants with a research profile in bioimaging and/or image analysis tools are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities for the successful candidate:

  • Lead a research group within the field of Bioimaging and/or Image Analysis that complements and enhances existing research at the department.
  • Conduct a distinctive internationally competitive research programme in the context of Bioimaging and/or Image Analysis.
  • Initiate and lead research collaborations and secure funding from external sources. We encourage interdisciplinary initiatives to engage with researchers at SDU and Odense University Hospital.
  • Contribute to teaching at the department, including supervision of student projects.
  • Fully participate in supporting a healthy working environment and contribute to the advancement of diversity within the department.

The successful candidate should have:

  • A PhD degree in life science or a related field.
  • A documented research profile in Bioimaging/image analysis research through a strong publication record in leading international journals.
  • Experience of research-based teaching, and a strong commitment to teaching and student supervision.
  • A track record of successful collaborations and the willingness and ability to build new ones.
  • Demonstrated successful grantsmanship by having previously obtained competitive external funding as primary applicant.
  • Experience in academic management (education, research, administration) and involvement in departmental activities.
  • Formal pedagogical qualifications.
  • Experience with supervision of PhD students and postdocs and mentoring of early career researchers.
  • Strong presence in international networks and research associations.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. International employees are expected to attend Danish classes offered by SDU to achieve language proficiency at a professional level.
