Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor in Child and Adolescent or Adult Psychiatry (combined position)

A combined position as clinical professor or clinical associate professor in psychiatry and as consultant in child and adolescent or in adult psychiatry is vacant at The Department of Regional Health Research , Faculty of Health Sciences , University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and at The Mental Health Services , The Psychiatric Services in the Region of Southern Denmark , Esbjerg.

The Mental Health Services have received acknowledgement of high-quality research and education and is part of the University Hospital of Southern Denmark .

The position is limited to a five-year period with the possibility of extension. Allocation of time between the clinical professorship and the consultancy is 50% / 50%. The allocation of time between the clinical associate professorship and the consultancy is 20% / 80%.

The successful candidate will be appointed at The Department of Regional Health Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, SDU. The clinical position will be at The Psychiatric Department, Esbjerg. Yet, another location of the clinical position may be agreed upon.

The professor position
 
The new professor will be Head of Research and build up his or her own group of researchers. Funds have been allocated for the start-up of the research department.

The new professor must have a strong record inside the field of child and adolescent or adult psychiatry research and must ensure that the research unit attracts substantial research funding from external sources in relation to the research program in question.

Research tasks
The successful applicants will be responsible for initiating and developing clinical research in the selected area and implementing the results in close collaboration with the management of the departments. The professors will also be responsible for establishing and expanding research collaboration inside the region as well as nationally and internationally. 

Research supervision and teaching
 
The applicant will be expected to perform supervisions function for PhD-graduates and teach undergraduate students. Furthermore, the professor will be expected to participate in the teaching and the instruction at the new master's programme in Medicine in Esbjerg from the autumn of 2022.

The clinical position
 
The consultants will be appointed at The Psychiatric Department in Esbjerg. The professor and consultant must be a specialist in child and adolescent or adult psychiatry.

Reference
 
In clinical and financial matters, the professor and Head of Research refers to the departmental management. In research matters, he/she refers to the university's Head of Department through the coordinative Head of Research. However, management responsibility may be part of the vacant position.

Expectations of qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to have

  • A PhD and must be a qualified specialist in psychiatry
  • Research experience documented by publications in international peer-reviewed journal articles within child and adolescent or in adult psychiatry
  • A documented record of teaching experience and teaching skills
  • Proven research management skills
  • Good collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Visions of how to further strengthen research in the department.

Danish language skills are not required initially, however, should be mastered at proficiency level C1 ,  at the Common European Framework of References for Languages within the first 2 years of employment.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
