Bioimage Analyst and Python programmer at Danish BioImaging Infrastructure Image Analysis Core Facility (DBI-INFRA IACF)
The Danish BioImaging Infrastructure (DBI-INFRA) is a multi-sited national research infrastructure that includes ten bioimaging facilities giving open access to a broad portfolio of technologies; from clinical to single molecule imaging. The DBI-INFRA is the Danish node for the ERIC Euro-BioImaging. Funded by the Ministry for Higher Education and Research, DBI-INFRA will implement and develop new open access bioimaging technologies to support life scientists across Denmark and Europe.
The DBI-INFRA Image Analysis Core Facility is hiring a team of two to implement open access Image analysis services to be accessible from any of the DBI-INFRA bioimaging facilities. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent BioImage Analyst to be hired at the Facilty of Health and Medical Sciencesand for a highly motivated and independent Python programmerto be hired at Department of Computer Sciences. Both candidates will work as a team at the University of Copenhagen. The successful candidates will join the team with effect from February 1st2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. DBI-INFRA is looking for candidates with strong problem-solving mindset, and drive to learn and collaborate in multidisciplinary environments. The main workplace will be the newly created Image Analysis Core Facility (IACF) at the DBI-INFRA Hub in the Faculty of Health Sciences (Copenhagen University). This unique national core facility will gather a team of experts dedicated to service in bioimage analysis. The team will work supporting Life Science research groups and bioimaging facilities, analyzing a broad range of scientific datasetsby leveraging the local computing infrastructure, creating new image analysis workflows and computing solutions by teaming up with computer scientists at DIKU and DTU, and promoting collaboration and FAIR share of image datasets within the Danish Bioimaging community.
Position as DBI-INFRA Bioimage Analyst - We are looking for a bioimage analyst, ideally with some experience in image analysis service provision and education of life scientists to join the new DBI-INFRA Image Analysis Core Facility.
Required skills:
- Experience with a broad range of BioImage analysis tools (ImageJ, CellProfiler, QuPath…)
- Programing experience to script common computational libraries
- Proven support to Life Scientists, ideally within an interdisciplinary environment such as a bioimaging core facility
- Good organizational and communication skills
Will be considered an advantage:
- Knowledge in image or signal processing theory
- Background in biology or bioinformatics
- Experience in Python programming
- Teaching experience
Primary activities:
- Customizing software scripts and image analysis workflows
- Organizing user training, workshops, and training schools
- Making bioimage analysis workflows readily available to Life Scientists
- Staying up to date and contributing to relevant bioimage analysis communities.
Postion as DBI-INFRA Python programmer - We are looking for a programmer, ideally with some experience in developing user-friendly computational applications and interest in bioimage analysis to join the new DBI-INFRA Image Analysis Core Facility.
Required skills:
- Advanced programming experience in Python
- Knowledge of basic image processing and experience with common image processing and data science libraries (scikit-image, Pytorch, Dask …)
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary environments
- Good organizational and communication skills
Will be considered an advantage:
- Experience in working in high performance computing (HPC) environments
- Experience in developing graphical user interfaces
- Experience in bioimage analysis
- Participation to open-source projects and interdisciplinary environments
Primary activities:
- Making bioimage analysis workflows readily available to Life Scientists
- Developing an integrated remote computing platform for bioimage analysis
- Organizing user training, workshops, and training schools
- Lifting proof-of-concept research code to production ready quality analysis workflows
- Staying up to date and contributing to the bioimage analysis community
Since these two positions are part of a join call, the hiring committee for the two positions will be the same, and the selection process done in parallel and considering the compatibility of the two candidates as a complementary team. Terms of employment
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The employmnet is as Special Consultant (specialkonsulent) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Employment will be in accordance to current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Prosa with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications.
