Description of the position
The Associate Professor will be embedded in the Section for Cell & Neurobiology. The Section's research spans neuroendocrinology and functional genomics of invertebrate model organisms, focusing on how endocrine and paracrine signals coordinate important physiological processes in the regulation of development, behavior, metabolism, epithelial homeostasis and osmoregulation to better understand human disease or identify insect control strategies. Moreover, the section is renowned for deorphanization of G-protein-coupled receptors and the characterization of novel neuropeptide systems across different invertebrate models. The section has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. Section staff currently includes 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 1 laboratory technician, and more than 9 post docs and PhD students.
The successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the establishment of an externally funded research programme in neuroendocrinology. Complementarity to the current research focus of the section is essential, as is an interest in establishing interdisciplinary collaboration with the other sections at the department. In addition to research, important duties include teaching and supervision of students at the undergraduate, graduate and PhD-levels. To a limited extent, the position may also include tasks requested by the Department such as research dissemination of scientific results or participation in local committees.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, scientific profile in relation to ongoing research at the section, as well as documented teaching qualifications.
