Assistant Professorship in Corporate Governance

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant assistant professor position in Corporate Governance at the Center for Corporate Governance (CCG), which is a part of Department of Accounting (ACC).

Currently, the core research areas of the center are as follows: 

  • ownership structures (including industrial foundations)
  • board work
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). 

CCG is one of the leading corporate governance centers in Europe. It is the ambition of the center to be in the international frontline in these research areas; to publish our research results in leading international journals; to have an excellent research environment; to seek synergy between research and teaching, and to have a strong partnership with the business community.

Examples of research areas that the position might cover:

  • Nordic corporate governance
  • Ownership models and in particular long-term ownership
  • Board work in either SMV or international firms
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance with a strong link either to the financial sector or applied board work

CCG is an interdisciplinary research center with a strong track record in corporate governance and in international business. It is essential that the candidate is able to provide a significant contribution to the distinct research profile. The successful applicant must therefore connect to the research taking place at both at the CCG and the departmental level.

Furthermore, successful applicants must have a record of research publications, and teaching experience in Corporate Governance and related topics.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of both the center and the Department.

The assistant professorship is a non-tenured research position and we expect the candidate to be starting on May 1, 2023 or soon after and will be running for 4 years.

Furthermore other selection criteria do include:

  • Experience to conduct individual and group based research meetings and research projects by high international standards
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School
  • Interact proactively with external stakeholders like companies, regulators and policy makers
  • Contributing to different Nordic and International corporate governance networks
  • Contribute to departmental research diversity by being a driving force of own research agenda and willing to be involved in fond raising when required
  • Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching
  • Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences

In parallel, the right candidate must be able to match these criteria:

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in an appropriate field
  • Documented teaching qualifications or other material for the evaluation of his/her pedagogical level.
  • Documented research production
  • Professional proficiency in English and another Nordic language (written and spoken) would be an asset

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.

  • Copies of the publications marked with an *. Only publications written in English (or another specified principal language, according to research tradition) or one of the Scandinavian languages will be taken into consideration).
  • Recruitment procedure 
    The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline. 

    The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.
    Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
