At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Electronic Systems, a position as Professor in Industrial Electromagnetics is open for appointment from March 1, 2023, or soon hereafter. The position is part-time; with 7,4 hours per week (20%). In electronics engineering, Aalborg University is known worldwide for its high academic quality and the societal relevance of its research programmes. The Department of Electronic Systems consists of more than 200 employees, of which about 40 % are international and about 90 are enrolled PhD students. The Department hosts 620 students. The Department's excellent research infrastructures and facilities accentuate its global position in teaching and research. The Department's research centres around communication, antennas, control systems, AI, sound, cyber security and robotics. The Department plays an active role in translating discoveries and results into practical applications with industrial partners and IPR. The Department provides teaching for several BSc and MSc programmes using a problem- and project-based learning model.


Job description

We are looking for a part-time (20%) Professor in Industrial Electromagnetics that will support the research focus area of hardware and architecture designs for future wireless communication systems. Therefore, the ideal candidate can document an extensive research and industrial background in antennas, RF, and electromagnetics.

In this role, you will collaborate with the research teams at Aalborg University in electromagnetic engineering, promoting close interactions with local and international researchers, and support the research funding applications. Visions and plans to enhance and expand the current research areas in electromagnetics at AAU are seen as an advantage. Furthermore, it is highly preferred that you have a long-time experience in the industry of wireless communications.

We expect that you support the supervision of students and staff at all levels, including Ph.d.-students, Postdocs, and Assistant Professors.

Qualification requirements:
The suitable applicant can demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven further development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s undertaking of research management and/or other possible management functions will also be taken into account. In addition the applicant is expected to have the qualifications required for undertaking teaching responsibilities. Special contributions to and development of educational and teaching related areas will be considered in the overall assessment.

Agreement

Appointment and salary acc. to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the State. Employment as Professor is in accordance with a classified position on scale 37. In addition, a pensionable increment will be given.
