Job description

This one year position will primarily cover research in the field of wave energy at Aalborg University. The research area focuses on the testing, optimization and design of wave energy converters (WECs) for electricity production. A strong emphasis is placed on the hydrodynamic and structural design of the WECs, typically based on physical model experiments in the institute's wave laboratories and/or testing of prototypes in the field.

At the same time, it is recognized that the development of WECs is a very multidisciplinary field, why emphasis is placed on the applicant's knowledge and experience in related disciplines such as measuring, control and power take-off systems.

The research aims to cover a wide range of WEC categories, so a broad knowledge and experience on this topic will be crucial.

Work in the field of research is largely based on externally funded projects, including EU funded international research projects, so it would be advantageous if the applicant, in addition to general project management experience, have experience of administration and participation in such projects.

The teaching will mainly be in the field of civil engineering construction in subjects such as ports, wave mechanics and coastal hydraulics. Further the lector is expected to help contribute and organize postgraduate courses in the field of wave energy exploitation, and to be able to contribute to other related courses at the university.
