At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology, a full-time position as Assistant Professor in Media Technology at the campus in Copenhagen is open for appointment from January 1 2022 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 3 years with the possibility of an extension for 1 year. The Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology has as its goal the development of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research which integrate creativity, engineering and technology within the disciplines of architecture, urban design, industrial design, digital design and interactive media. The department is a leading research and educational environment in Denmark that addresses the challenge of the interplay between creativity and technology, and develops new areas in research and education directed towards the end-user.


Research areas will be within Media Technology, focusing on virtual reality as a tool to help children, adolescents, and adults with mental disabilities learn social and daily living skills.

The candidate is expected to collaborate with psychologists, psychiatrists, teachers, and other experts in mental disabilities to design, develop and evaluate virtual reality interventions designed to help this target group. Experience in programming virtual reality applications and previous experience collaborating with professionals working with individuals with mental disabilities is an asset for this position.

Other important assets are international academic activity and experience in research collaborations. It is expected that the applicant can document the ability to participate in research projects, designing and implementing field trials with upcoming technologies for individuals with mental disabilities. The applicant is also expected to demonstrate the ability to write international publications.

Teaching will primarily be in the following two educations: a) “Medialogy” (Bachelor) and b) “Medialogy (M.Sc.). The teaching areas include the course Interaction Design, Programming for Virtual Reality, and supervising semester projects on both educations. Additionally, the candidate is expected to coordinate semesters on the Medialogy bachelor program, which will require some Danish skills.

Qualification requirements:
Appointment as an Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total in a temporary position (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark).
